Abstract

In this study, the characteristics of actual walking speed of the disabled students with no walking disorders and walking disorders such as with a wheelchair or crutches are surveyed at the disabled school facilities. With these walking speed survey, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of fire and evacuation scenarios on the performance based design of fire system, and the effect of walking speed difference on the number of people who do not meet safety standards and finally to provide basic data for fire safety during the design or evacuation drill.
