This paper presents a new standard on right of sunlight. The existing standard on right of sunlight is based on only sunlight hours on the winter solstice that is not blocked by the surroundings. However, the new standard uses an area coverage of winter solar window that is not blocked by the surroundings during three months from November 21 to February 21. The new standard should facilitate more practical quantitative evaluation of an invasion on right of sunlight. The area coverage for the new standard is set for 33% of winter solar window area. Two case studies show that the new standard has led to better percent of satisfaction of sunlight compared to the existing standard.
